Yes, that title was intentional. So excited to recap how my first merch official Bun Undone merch came to life, just in time for the #BunsAndBoulders event on April 6, 2019, thanks to Custom Ink!
Funny enough, I had just started thinking about ways I could proudly brand and represent Bun Undone on the streets. Bun Undone is more than a persona or blog name for me, it is a state of mind. It represents the idea of letting your bun loose and embracing your imperfections. It represents living a fulfilled life of balance. As fate would have it, an email with this opportunity soon followed. With my 4/6 event in the works, I immediately asked if this could fit within the time frame. The team at Custom Ink ensured yes, and quickly and seamlessly helped me through the steps to make it happen.
The first step was searching through their product catalog. They had so many brands and styles I was familiar with, but also so much variety! Not gonna lie…I have my eye on cropped sweatshirts next ;). I knew I immediately wanted a ladies activewear tanking, due to my audience demographic (all of you ladies who crush it every day and always need more things to wear, right?!) At the same time, I wanted something slightly different. Once I picked out this style, I enlisted the help of my friend Cam for design purposes. She designed my original logo, and totally understands the simplistic vision I wanted. Some photos of her original mockup are below, and it’s amazing how spot on it is! Before chatting with her, I was toying around with the idea of doing more playful phrases like UNDONE AF, or even using the messy bun logo on the front. We decided Undone on the front with the bun logo on the back was the perfect mix. Thank you, Cam! There’s also the option to use their design tool, giving access to a library of fonts and art, if you didn’t have access to design resources. Such a great option, too!
The Custom Ink team then had to send me the mock-up on their back-end. With very minimal tweaks (i.e. move down the text/logo) it was a success. I seriously cannot get over how seamless this process was. The customer service was amazing, the amount of customization possible was so impressive, and the simple ease and quickness of it made my first merch order such a success!
Sharing a few key highlights from my event below, which was filled with the most empowering, beautiful souls, EVER. My heart was so full seeing everyone at Brooklyn Boulders together, and when the tanks were added to the mix, the sea of blue (my favorite color) made me so happy. They fit everyone SO well, felt so soft (quality is amazing!), and looked so cute. Even the vendors were sporting them. It helped provide such a team spirit atmosphere and energy. Now, I have a ton of tanks left over, so I’m thinking I’ll do a giveaway for some of them soon, so stay tuned on my Instagram for that. This community is so positive and uplifting and having something to wear to represent that is just so special.
I’ll do a separate, full event recap later along with an event “How-to.” Thank you so much, Custom Ink, for helping bring my vision to life. I can’t recommend the company enough for whatever occasion you may have. Use THIS LINK to get 10% off your order, too!
Now seriously…tank you, next, because what should we create together next? Would love to hear your thoughts!
