This is the season that I’ve been prioritizing me. I’ve spent the summer doing things that are good for me and provide a release whenever I can. I’ve always put self-care as #1, but adding Delos to the list has made my feel like I’m taking EVEN better care of myself. I am grateful to have the privilege of trying new things in the wellness space and sharing my honest opinions. Sometimes these opportunities come to me, and other times I seek them out. Delos was one of the ones I sought out, because after hearing just a few testimonials from friends, I KNEW it would change my body. Flash forward to now, and any time someone asks me, I exclaim how it’s the best game changer ever. I’m hooked!
I am a believe in consistency being key for many things. Of course, nutrition, exercise, and other good habits, but recovery is extremely important too! Now being a Delos client for 3 months, I understand how transformative it can be. My protocol started with 3 50 minute sessions per week, which yes, is a lot. I found the time to make it a priority – typically going right from my AM workout – because I truly enjoy it and felt the effectiveness sink in immediately. Not only did it alleviate tightness and tension, but I feel more pliable, an increased/improved range of motion which has helped me progress in workouts as well. While I’ve always been pretty decent at foam rolling and stretching after workouts, some parts of your body just get tight and require a much deeper breakdown into the tissue fibers. More on the Delos process in my previous blog here.
Since my treatments are 50 minutes each, I spend time focusing on a lot of areas. I started with a ton of hip and paraformus work, but since then, those areas don’t really need it anymore — which is amazing! I’ve since moved more onto the adductors and upper body, with lots of focus on my neck and shoulders. At this point, I am reaching the maintenance phase. I’ll only be going a few times a month in comparison to a few times per week. Once your tissue becomes more pliable – that’s all it takes!
I’ve also had the chance to connect with many different therapists at Delos. I’ve been seeing Astrid (pictured below) since the beginning, but I’ve also tried Marc, Amber and Brigitta. I’ve also worked with Delos to partner on several events. One being at Under Armour, and one at Gallagher Way. They are often popping up at local fitness events and offering 5 minute mini therapy sessions -a great trial and way to get a feel for the process and learn more!
